Food responses vary with container temperature and also depend upon product condition, load mix, packaging, time in transit and storage, different maturities or ripeness stages, varieties, growing regions, growing conditions and previous storage history. Consequently, the guidelines must be adjusted when new conditions and/or prior product history dictate.
